Important Questions to Ask When Booking a Rental Car

This article gives a guide to some of the most important questions that you should ask to your rental vehicle company representative before you book a holiday rental car.

Price – If the price is too god to be true, it is probably too good to be true. What is not included? Is there a huge insurance excess figure for example?
Payment  – Is a credit card required, and when will the money be taken?
Cancellation – If paying in advance, is the full amount refundable if the booking is cancelled?
Vehicle Collection/Return – Where is the vehicle collected from and returned to? Is there easy access at the airport?
Fuel policy – Is the car delivered with a full tank of fuel? Some companies make money by delivering vehicles with empty tanks, and asking the hirer to return the vehicle empty. In many cases the hirer will return the vehicle with more fuel than when they collected it.
Are additional drivers included in the price?
Insurance – what's covered, what's not covered? CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) Insurance may be included in the price, but often there are exclusions to the policy.
Insurance excess figures – If there is no CDW cover, what are the excess figures i.e. if the vehicle is damaged how much is the hirer liable to pay?
Unlimited mileage – If you are going to be doing a lot of driving, is there a tariff for additional mileage?
What is the Minimum age of driver?

It is also recommended that there is a contact number with a person who answers the phone at the end of it in case something goes wrong, and of course, don't forget your driving licence.
